I Don’t Care
It sounds harsh, I know, but it's true. Okay, maybe not 100%, but it is my ultimate pursuit.
Why?
Because we are not supposed to care. The word care has been used for so many years as a means to say you love someone. Some people even use the word interchangeably with love. Love is a powerful word. God Himself is love (1John4:8)! How could care be used in the same respect as love? Well, I think it's the same way other words have be taken out of context, such as humility. Humility is not being quiet and demure while people run over you. Humility is knowing where your help comes from. The word care is only a scapegoat for the word worry. Worry has rightfully earned a negative connotation, so care became it's replacement.
On the other hand, the phrase “I DON'T CARE” is considered rude and disrespectful. Isn't that contradictory? If care replaced worry, why is it considered rude. It's just like saying, "I don't worry." Now, don't get me wrong, if my son told me that after I have corrected him, somebody would have to come and save that poor child. So, I am definitely not saying that it should be used haphazardly. I am only saying that it's all in the way you use the phrase.
There are times when things come up in life where you feel the need to care: not having enough money, a loved one being sick and in the hospital, having trouble getting your business off the ground, earning bad grades in school, huge set backs in your goals, and the biggest one of all, people talking about you. To all of these I say... I DON'T CARE! Why? The scripture 1Peter5:7 NLT, instructs us by saying, "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you." In other words, He takes full responsibility for you and everything concerning you. God never wanted us to care.
Just think, He placed Adam and Eve in the center of plentifulness! His original plan was for us to lack and want for nothing. There wasn't anything they needed or wanted. And, because of the blood of Jesus, we have been redeemed (regained possession of) to that original plan.
How, when there's so many people suffering and in need around the globe? Well, that's what we are here. We created the problems, so it's up to us to solve them. He gave us complete dominion in this earth. Read Genesis chapter 1 verse 26 (this is an entirely different blog for another day.
God created us to love, not care. He will carry the cares for this world, we just have to share His love, His agape love. Sometimes, when I get consumed with the cares of this world, I have to say out loud, I DON'T CARE. I may not be 100% careless, but I am working on it.
So if you are someone who has spent any length of time around me, know that I am not trying to be rude when I say, “I DON'T CARE”. It's only my expression of my realization of how small I am in God's great big plan. Try it today when you begin to care instead of love. Say it out loud...I DON'T CARE!
